February/March 2016: The 20th biennal Mask Festival FESTIMA took place in the town of Dédougou/Burkina Faso from February 28 to March 5, 2016. Despite of the terrorist attack in Ouagadougou which has shaken the country on January 15, 2016, and overshadowed the festival, large local audiences and also some tourists gathered to watch the hundreds of traditional masks from six West African countries - Burkina Faso, Mali, Senegal, Ivory Coast, Togo and Benin. Vero Tours organised a special tour to attend the festival.
